If you have experience with improv already, this class provides a new perspective and an expanded vocabulary for learning. If you have no improv experience, Introduction to Improv - Level 1 helps build confidence, trains your brain for creative thinking, and inspires you to have fun!

In this session we will briefly learn the basic concepts of exposure and image composition, then move into ways to create images using cameras and iPads. After capturing our images, we will edit and manipulate them using different apps that can change brightness, contrast, midtones, color, texture, etc. to create a piece of art that students can take home and print using their own printing service. *All Students MUST bring an iPad or smart device that can take pictures and can download the free apps that we will use for editing. Students may also bring their regular camera in addition to their iPad. *

Can you think outside the “box?” During this session, students will be able to explore their creativity and problem solving skills as they create sculptures using very limited supply choices. Students may work independently or in small groups to create one original work of art. This session is based upon the Cardboard Challenge and Maker Space movement; ways to explore independent thinking and creativity.

Pichhwai Art | Vachasa Studio
Pichhwai is the narration of tales, changing seasons, bustling festivals and poetry of Krishna in form of a painting. Each painting is accompanied by special music called “raagas.” The painting is done on thin woven cloth and use natural color. Pichhwai are also woven in gold and silver thread. Pichhwai literally means “at the back”. These paintings are lyrical creations on cloth which hang in form of a background to Srinathji’s idol in Rajasthan, India as well as in other temples of Krishna. Pichhwai paintings are forms of traditional artworks, having roots in Rajesthan. In the fall, The Art Institute of Chicago displayed Pichhwais as part of 100 artworks from private and public collections in India. The students in this workshop will work as a group to create a Pichhwai to be displayed at DW!
